Selecting Leaders and a Covenant with Death

Selecting Leaders and a Covenant with Death

God speaks of the Covenant of Death through His prophet Isaiah:

“Because you have said, we have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol we are in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, it will not come to us, for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood we have hidden ourselves.” (Isa. 28:15, 18)

According to Isaiah’s testimony, the Covenant of Death is automatically established whenever humanity comes into agreement with hell. God’s prophet is saying that whoever agrees and aligns with Lucifer opens the door to death.

Through that open door the prince of death enters into your realm of existence, takes up residence and begins to implement his devastation and dominion. This means death, in its various dimensions, is released to freely steal, kill, and destroy aspects of your life and the life of your loved ones.

Paul says the wages of sin is death (Rom. 3:23). Any agreement or alignment with God’s mortal enemy, Satan, is an act of the highest treason and rebellion against God. Now, treason and rebellion against God is sin, and His predetermined payment for sin is death.

Agreement with hell means all covenant partners have come under the jurisdiction of the prince of death and his minions. Having gained jurisdiction over the lives of his covenant partners Satan may now carry out the sentence of death against all they own, manage, or oversee.

The Covenant of Death not only applies to individuals but it also applies to the nations. Any nation agreeing with hell through its federal policies, initiatives, or agendas opens the door for death and destruction to be released upon its lands, its cities and its people.

That death may come upon a nation in the form of catastrophic weather, economic collapse, drought and crop failures, increased violent crime, corrupt and lawless leaders, plagues of sickness and disease, earthquakes and massive flooding, raging out of control wildfires, and a whole host of other features.

God, in speaking through Isaiah the prophet, declares that aligning with hell is a covenant issue and guarantees a death sentence upon those who would do so. We need to consider this thought when we gather to select leaders to govern our cities, states, or nation. As citizens of this great republic we must ask ourselves if the positions, perspectives, philosophies, or proposed policies of those vying for public office will bring us and our nation into alignment with hell.

Now there are certain ideological stances that for sure bring our nation into agreement with hell and will thus establish a covenant of death over this country. Those stances stand in direct violation of statutes, principles, and values that almighty God has declared as legal parameters that guarantee life, peace, and prosperity.

What are some of the major stances that bring our nation into agreement with hell and make us covenant partners with the prince of death? First, there is the murdering of our young through abortion. God declares that shedding innocent blood defiles the land and thus brings a curse upon the land (Num.35:33, Deut. 19:11-13). God says calamity shall surely come upon those who do such things (II Kings 21:12-16). Of the seven things that God hates, things that are an abomination to Him, number three is “hands that shed innocent blood’ (Prov. 6:16-19).

Again, speaking through the prophet Isaiah, God says of blood-soaked hands:

“When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you

make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood”(Isa. 1:15).

Unless there is humble confession, repentance, renouncing and breaking of alignment with hell the covenant of death remains intact, guaranteeing that our prayers will not be heard by God.

A second thing that brings us into agreement with hell is the embracing, endorsing, and promoting of sexual immorality. This includes all forms of sexual activity – from adultery to fornication to homosexuality. God says all such behavior is an abomination to him – it utterly disgusts Him – and that not only do the practitioners defile themselves but the land itself is also defiled (Lev. 18:2-24). As a consequence God says He visits the land with punishment and the land will vomit out its inhabitants(Lev. 18:25).

The leader that embraces, endorses, and promotes any philosophy, behavior, lifestyle, or activity that is an abomination to the Lord is bringing his organization, city, state, or nation into agreement with hell and is establishing a covenant of death over the organization or nation that he represents.

A third major issue that could bring our nation into agreement with hell concerns loyalty to the nation of Israel. God has referred to Israel as the apple of His eye on more than one occasion (Deut. 32:9-10,Zach. 2:8). God says that Israel is beloved of God for the sake of the fathers and that the calling of God upon Israel is unalterable (Rom. 11:28-29).

Furthermore, God promised Abraham, who is the father of Israel:

“I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you”(Gen. 12:3).

Here, God has decreed blessings upon those who bless Israel and curses upon those who would curse Israel. No matter what any man or nations opinion may be concerning Israel’s validity as a sovereign nation, God selection of Israel as His chosen people stands. Although God has historically dealt with Israel because of its disobedience, rebellion, and infidelity, they are still the people He selected to introduce His laws and statutes to the nations. They are also the family through which our Savior was brought into the earth to redeem all of mankind.

So choosing to stand against Israel and allowing its enemies to freely assault and annihilate them positions us as a nation to be devoured by a curse. Again, we see the covenant of death activated by aligning with the mandates of hell.

Keep in mind that God believes in elections. He says that believers are to make their election sure (IIPet. 1:10). So as you go out to make your choices as to who should lead your city, state, or nation, make your election sure by selecting candidates that absolutely refuse to agree with hell. Remember, your choice will determine if you and your future generations will thrive through a covenant of life, or face sure calamity and destruction under the covenant of death.
